BOUNCING BACK

The Australian Women's Weekly - - Monthly round-Up -

Endangered banded harewallabies are back on mainland Australia more than 100 years after the last wild colony was destroyed by feral animals. Sixty wallabies have been translocated from an island refuge to 7800 hectares in Western Australia’s Mt Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary. The sole (and small) survivors of an otherwise extinct group of megafauna, the wallabies are expected to breed to a mainland population of 3000 within a decade.
