Into the deep
Queensland marine biologist Johnny Gaskell has discovered a “blue hole” in the Great Barrier Reef. He spotted the patch of blue (a smaller version of the Great Blue Hole off the coast of Belize) on Google Maps and sailed to find it. The sheltered microclimate protects a treasure trove of marine species. Johnny believes his team may be the first to have ever dived there and they may be the last as he has sworn to keep the blue hole’s location a secret.
