SAY YES TO COLOUR

-

As the creator and owner of No Chintz soft furnishings, Chrissie is known for her love of colour, texture and fabrics, so her decision to strip back the apartment to a bare canvas might seem an odd choice. However, as Chrissie explains, this was only the first step. “I knew I wanted to add colour but I wanted just to clean everything out first,” she says.

Living in a home, thinking about how it’s used and getting a feel for the space is something Chrissie believes is the right approach when it comes to decorating.

“Why do everything immediately?” she asks. “I’m a great one for working your way through things and changing them as you go. You’re far better off making sure you have the basics, then spending some time getting to know the house.”

This philosophy has seen the couple make changes to the apartment’s layout.

“While living in the apartment we’ve moved things around,” says Chrissie. “Our bedroom is now in the darkest room of the house with no view because we go to bed in the dark and wake in the dark. We save the views for rooms where we spend the most time and where we entertain.”
