The Australian Women's Weekly - - 85 years -

When the 1980s arrived it was a shouty mishmash of perms and riotous colours, and make-up turned towards the huge eyelashes and striking eye shadows such as the “angel hair with seraphin eyes” (far right). Boundary-pushing aesthetics like the rag doll look (right), “the latest (believe it or not!) from London”, were designed to shock rather than actually wear. The “New Faces” feature (above) from 1980 offered the “Bordeaux face – intense and mysterious. All the shades from pink through to prune”.
