For burns, use cool run­ning water over the burnt part for at least 20 min­utes but don’t put a child with burns into a bath full of cold water. Re­move tight cloth­ing and ap­ply a burn cream and a non-stick dress­ing (keep a first aid kit handy). Ma­jor burns are a med­i­cal emer­gency so get to a hos­pi­tal.
