Motherless generation

The Australian - - COMMENTARY -

“Churches and charities, families, medical staff and bureaucrats struck at the most primal and sacred bond there is: the bond between a mother and her baby.’’ Those were the noble words of Julia Gillard in 2013, giving the national apology for forced adoption of babies from their teenage mothers.

It appears each generation invents its own injustice against children (Cut & Paste, 12/10) because just four years later we are being asked to approve a new policy that will break that “primal and sacred bond” all over again. For if we institute the marriage of two men, we are instituting motherless families. We are declaring that future children do not need a mother. We are legislating to ensure they will not have a mother.

Who would be the future prime minster to give our heartfelt apology to the motherless generation? David van Gend, Toowoomba, Qld
