CASSOWARY COAST

Road in pipeline

-

CASSOWARY Coast Regional Council is working to reopen a badly eroded section of Innisfail’s Fitzgerald Esplanade closed to traffic after flooding rain in January. Mayor John Kremastos said the council had received partial funding from the federal and state governments to rebuild the riverside road near the tennis courts. Repair work will start in May after the wet season.

Driving safety

DRIVER education program Keeping Young Drivers Safe is being rolled out across schools on the Cassowary Coast. The program is co-facilitated by police officers from the local road policing unit, transport inspectors, Queensland Fire and Rescue, RACQ and driving instructors.
