Word on the street

SHOULD CAIRNS FUEL COMPANIES BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIGH PRICES? IF SO, HOW?

The Cairns Post - - VIEWS -

KAREN COPLEY White Rock Yes, I suppose. They shouldn’t be passing the cost on to consumers.

DANE CONNOLLY Cairns City Yeah 100 per cent. It should just be level everywhere. Maybe they should be fined.

STEVE SHELTON Little Mulgrave Of course they should, because they are price gouging. It should be the same across the board.

CHARMAINE DWYER Bungalow Of course. They should be pulled in line by the government. I go down to the new one, United Petroleum.

PETER DUSTIN Bungalow Somebody should have to justify the price. They are charging up when other companies can sell it cheaper.

DAN HUBER Freshwater Yes. Government intervention and capped fuel prices. More competition maybe, to get prices down.

MARK BUNTER Manunda Yes. That’s a difficult question. Just competition. There’s not enough competition to keep prices down.
