Stop dangerous drivers

The Cairns Post - - VIEWS -

IT is time that some positive action is taken to stop the killing of innocent people up here (CP 24.07.17) or indeed anywhere in this country.

That 12 road deaths have occurred up here since May, is shocking, and surely must open the eyes of the rule makers to stop our annual road deaths of innocent, and I repeat innocent, persons.

What happens to these killers? — A mere slap on the wrist?

Of course, senior constables are angry as are local citizens. Enough is enough!

Maybe a local community get-together to discuss the need for real action taken to stop this killing, that does not only affect the immediate family — there is a huge ripple effect that goes on for years with those families and friends left behind.

Surely dangerous drivers, should there be a real law properly dealing with road killers, might recognise the consequence and we might see a change.

Maybe strong discussion on careful driving in schools and during driving lessons might assist.

Death is forever, injured means pain and emotional impact changing lives.

My heart goes out to the families involved — surely it is time for some help for mourning families. Naomi Wilson, Bayview Heights
