Rider dies after crash
A MAN critically injured after crashing his motorbike in Cape York earlier this month has died in hospital.
Police said the 44-year-old, who is from Paytens Bridge in New South Wales, was riding south on the Peninsula Development Rd about 30km north of Coen on September 2 when he hit a dust hole and lost control. There were no witnesses to the crash, but he was found unconscious by other members of a group he had been riding with. He was initially taken to Coen Hospital before being flown to Townsville Hospital where he died on Tuesday night.
