MP hails job skills project

THE State Govern­ment’s Skilling Queens­lan­ders for Work ini­tia­tive has helped 580 peo­ple in the Far North Queens­land re­gion get back into the work­force.

Mem­ber for Bar­ron River Craig Craw­ford said the govern­ment had in­vested about $10 mil­lion un­der Skilling Queens­lan­ders for Work in FNQ for a to­tal 62 projects that had helped peo­ple into the work­force and into train­ing.

As at the end of Au­gust, fig­ures showed 980 peo­ple had com­pleted a Skilling Queens­lan­ders for Work project, 580 peo­ple had se­cured a job and 300 had gone on to fur­ther train­ing or re­turned to school. TOM VOLLING
