Parking mad over council
KEEPING a balance between the number of motorists in the CBD and the number of parking places is too mundane for our forward-thinking visionary councillors.
They prefer to leave their mark on history by building dramatic sculptures and grandly converting (without a plan or funding) the Courthouse Hotel into an art gallery as part of a grand arts precinct.
Matters such as ensuring that an aquarium provides the carparking required by their own regulations are beneath them.
The CRC’s performance in trying to delay the Smithfield bypass is a disgrace. The council should be replaced by an administrator who can do the low-brow competently. Sean McGinn, Clifton Beach
