LNP to fund road study

The Cairns Post - - NEWS -

THE LNP will invest $100,000 to fund a concept study on the Cairns Ring Road.

Barron River candidate Michael Trout said a proposed link between the Bruce and Kennedy Highways, which would bypass the Cairns CBD in a bid to reduce traffic congestion in the city, would be investigated.

“A properly funded and designed ring road would reduce Cairns city congestion and allow heavy vehicles out of heavily-populated areas, as well as improving freight access to the port and airport,” he said.

“It’s all about busting current and future traffic congestion and removing heavy vehicles from suburban streets.”

“There’s no more time to waste.

“The LNP will get this work done as part of our plan to build the infrastructure Far North Queensland needs.”
