Community groups can bank on helping hand
SIX lucky Far North organisations have shared in more than $13,000 to help continue their essential work in the community.
The Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, South Cairns Australian Football & Sporting Club, Cairns Hockey Association, Douglas Shire Historical Society, Cancer Council’s Cairns branch and the Tropical North Steiner School Inc each received at least $1300.
The cash was provided by Building Active Connected Communities in affiliation with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. The bank’s Far North Queensland regional community manager Ross Growcott said Cairns and Port Douglas community groups were recognised this week.
“It is a really special part of this job where we get to give back to those in the community who are doing wonderful things,” he said.
“To date, there has been $68,825 in total payments made.”
CASH BOOST: Carol Clifford (YAPS), Graham and Janet Koch from the Dr. Edward Koch Foundation, state manager Bendigo Bank Gavin Holden, Andrew Cornes of (BACC) FNQ Ltd, Nadine Gray of Cancer Council Queensland, Lindsay McDonnell of the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation and Philip Densper of Cairns Trinity Rotary.
