THE Cairns con­struc­tion sec­tor has “cleaned up” at an in­dus­try event cel­e­brat­ing bold de­signs from Glad­stone to the state’s Far North.

Cairns fi­nal­ists claimed an im­pres­sive 11 tro­phies at the re­cent 2017 HIA – CSR Townsville and North Queens­land Hous­ing, Kitchen and Bath­room Awards.

The suc­cess­ful busi­nesses will now com­pete in the 2018 HIA-CSR Aus­tralian Hous­ing Awards be­ing an­nounced in Sin­ga­pore next May.

HIA Cairns branch man­ager Rus­sell Par­ni­cott said it had been a “re­ally good year”.

“We’ve got builders and other trades up here who are al­ways push­ing he said.

Amid the peren­nial preChrist­mas and wet sea­son rush, Mr Par­ni­cott said there was cause for the lo­cal con­struc­tion sec­tor to be op­ti­mistic ahead of next year.
