Best builders scoop awards
THE Cairns construction sector has “cleaned up” at an industry event celebrating bold designs from Gladstone to the state’s Far North.
Cairns finalists claimed an impressive 11 trophies at the recent 2017 HIA – CSR Townsville and North Queensland Housing, Kitchen and Bathroom Awards.
The successful businesses will now compete in the 2018 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards being announced in Singapore next May.
HIA Cairns branch manager Russell Parnicott said it had been a “really good year”.
“We’ve got builders and other trades up here who are always pushing he said.
Amid the perennial preChristmas and wet season rush, Mr Parnicott said there was cause for the local construction sector to be optimistic ahead of next year.

“Some of our members are quite busy with a lot of houses in front of them.”
