Public service wage anger

The Cairns Post - - VIEWS -

I GOT an ALP flyer in the mail saying Tim Nicholls was behind Campbell Newman’s decisions to sack 14,000 (public service) workers.

Correct. The flyer does not mention public servants, just “workers”.

The ALP says if Nicholls gets in there will be more cuts. Wonder why? Ponder this. There are about 322,000 public servants, the average wage is apparently $95,000, so the public wages bill is $30.59 billion.

Since Annastacia Palaszczck became premier, she has employed another 17,000 public servants and at an average of $95,000 – that’s an extra $1.615 billion the Queensland public has to pay in wages. If you are not a public servant, are you happy with the situation when you look at your pay packet? Barry Braes, Mareeba
