Char­ity drive en­lists long locks of the law

A BRAVE Cairns po­lice of­fi­cer and ad­min­is­tra­tion staff mem­ber have lost their locks in the name of char­ity as part of the Leukaemia Foun­da­tion’s an­nual World’s Great­est Shave.

Con­sta­ble Jesse Gen­ever said he de­cided to go un­der the ra­zor af­ter re­cently los­ing loved ones due to cancer.

Two oth­ers also coloured their hair for the cause yes­ter­day.

“We’re all af­fected by cancer in one way or an­other so I thought I’d put my hand up,” he said.

“I’ve lost a per­sonal friend and a col­league re­cently so it’s a bit raw for us, but it’s for a good cause.”

Ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cer Cath Ce­fai also took part in the shave, per­son­ally rais­ing more than $2000 for the cause.

This year marks the 20th an­niver­sary of World’s Great­est Shave.

Moss­man Se­nior Con­sta­ble Cassy Hill and Con­sta­ble Holly Reilly will also brave the shave on Satur­day.
