Charity drive enlists long locks of the law
A BRAVE Cairns police officer and administration staff member have lost their locks in the name of charity as part of the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual World’s Greatest Shave.
Constable Jesse Genever said he decided to go under the razor after recently losing loved ones due to cancer.
Two others also coloured their hair for the cause yesterday.
“We’re all affected by cancer in one way or another so I thought I’d put my hand up,” he said.
“I’ve lost a personal friend and a colleague recently so it’s a bit raw for us, but it’s for a good cause.”
Administration officer Cath Cefai also took part in the shave, personally raising more than $2000 for the cause.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of World’s Greatest Shave.
Mossman Senior Constable Cassy Hill and Constable Holly Reilly will also brave the shave on Saturday.
BRAVING THE SHAVE: Administration Officer Marie Pierce, Constable Jesse Genever, administration officer Cath Cefai and Sergeant Mel Flynn.
