MP gets in for a Cher of acclaim
WARREN Entsch was a celebrity in his own right at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, fielding a thousand hugs and handshakes for his work on marriage equality.
Bright though it may be, the Leichhardt MP’s stardom on that glittery night was overcast compared to that of a certain pop diva with tangerine locks.
“I don’t usually get starstruck but she was one I was really keen to catch up with,” he said.
“I gave her a cuddle and she congratulated me and thanked me for my advocacy.”
Mr Entsch waited for more than a week to get a copy of his photo with Cher to be given pride of place among the patchwork of images decorating his electorate office walls.
The 71-year-old singer later apologised to fans for posing for a photo with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull but Mr Entsch is in her good books.
