IF KURANDA mum Melina Clark seems vaguely familiar, it might be her small screen alter ego from the 1990s that’s “ringing a bell”.
Ms Clark starred as a genie in the TV advertisement that helped transform the then-unremarkable biscuit into an Australian favourite.
It was a role that propelled the little known actor to stardom when the commercial aired during the 1994-95 summer cricket series.
The series of genie-themed Tim Tam ads also featured Oscar-winning actor Cate Blanchett, but not as a genie.
“It was kind of a cult thing at the time, as the only female genie. A bit of girl power, circa 1995,” Mr Clark told the Cairns Post.
