South Johnstone Bowls Club Friday the 4th of May saw the second round of the twilight barefoot competition. 20 bowlers took to the green with round winners going to Trace Mackella, Tim Kerrigan and Roy McCarthy. The third round is being held Friday June 1st starting at 6pm with meat raffle and members draw of $200. 3rd division pennants kicks off this weekend Saturday the 12th against Rural rivals Silkwood. The match starts at 1pm at South Johnstone and the squad is R McCarthy, D Leach, P Longford, T Kerrigan, S Dunne, T Edgerton, P Hitzke and F Caltabiano reserves K Villalba and M Hooker. Mothers Day social bowls this Sunday the 13th. Cards called at 1pm with bowls to commence at 130pm. Green fees $10 Ladies play for free, smoko provided and wine prizes. West Cairns TPI Memorial Bowls Club The Labour Day holiday did not deter twentytwo players attending West Cairns Bowls Club last Monday to enjoy the mixed social bowls. Col Koppen, Laura Krizan and Sean Ellison were declared the winners. Next Monday we commence at 1.30pm for three hours of relaxing bowls under the covered green. Any registered bowler of any age, whether local or visiting, can join us by contacting our selector Rosemary on 40360624 before 11.30am or by contacting the bowls club either by phone or visit before 1.00pm. Visitors are asked to advise their normal playing position to assist with the selection. Cards are called at 1.15pm and all players are asked to be at the Club at that time. On Saturday a small but enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the afternoon. Winners were L.Fedalto, B.Anderson, D.Kirkman, J.Paterson. Over the weekend we had a representative side contesting the Bruno Destro Shield at Edge hill. On the first day the team had 2 wins and a draw but unfortunately had two losses on Sunday.
