Heart op for Boycott
FORMER England batsman and prominent international cricket commentator Geoffrey Boycott is recovering after undergoing quadruple open heart bypass surgery. In a statement posted on her father’s official Twitter account, Emma Boycott said the 77-year-old Yorkshireman had the procedure in Leeds, northern England, on June 27 and spent 10 days in a cardiac critical care unit. Responding to a post from a wellwisher, Boycott said he was “resting,” with his daughter typing the replies on his behalf. Boycott, now a commentator, played 108 Tests for England between 1964 and 1982, scoring 8114 runs – often slowly – at an impressive average of 47.72.
