A-LEAGUE

-

THERE have been plenty of upsets in the first month of the A-League season, but all five games this weekend will have a clear favourite. Both Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City are dominant favourites and have been heavily backed with Ladbrokes punters. City have won six of their past seven games against the Wellington Phoenix and it is no surprise they are $1.57, while it has been several years since the Victory lost a game against the Central Coast Mariners. The favourites who do look vulnerable are the Western Sydney Wanderers, who are $2.10. They have won only three of their past eight games as home favourites, while their opponents, Brisbane Roar, have won six of their past 12 games as away underdogs for a big profit. Adelaide United are $2.10 fancies to beat the Perth Glory on Sunday afternoon, while Sydney FC are clear favourites to account for slow-starters Newcastle.
