Son helps trainer to Stryke

-

LAUREN Herne credited her three-year-old son Harry as the stable’s good luck charm after One Stryke landed a knockout blow to punters on Saturday.

It was Herne’s first Saturday metropolitan winner in Brisbane after she took out a licence 12 months ago and took over the stable from her husband Brad. “Harry seems to bring good luck when he comes to the races,” she said.

One Stryke was partnered by Justin Stanley, who was only booked late for the ride.

“A few runs back we drew wide at Cairns and Justin (Stanley) jagged him back and we missed a nose,” Herne said.

“When I saw the barrier draw for today I was going to scratch him but Justin talked me into running him and what a ride.”
