THE Toowoomba Grammar Art Show has solidified its reputation as a premier show selling more than 200 pieces at the weekend.

Co-ordinator Pam Brown said $116,000 worth of art was sold over the three days including the $12,000 White Dress on Napoli by French artist Ewa Bathelier.

“We’ve blitzed our previous records. It’s amazing,” she said.

Dealing directly with artists has transformed the offerings at the annual art show, and it’s a system Ms Brown is keen to model in coming years.

About 200 pieces, or 30% of the total works on display were sold including two by Kate Smith valued at about $5000 each.

About 3000 people visited the art show.

“We will have again 40 new artists next year and our main aim is to increase the diversity and style of the paintings,” Ms Brown said.

David Hinchliffe is next year’s feature artist with his works created following a residency at the school to be sold in 2018.

“Our young talent can benefit from it,” she said.
