MOVIE: Valiant

It’s 1944, and as World War II conflict rages, plucky pint-sized pigeon Valiant (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is determined to join the Royal Homing Pigeon Service to do his part for Queen and Country. He and fellow new recruit, cowardly con artist Bugsy (Ricky Gervais), are teamed with a flock of other rookies in training to become ace messenger pigeons, rescuing a captured carrier (John Cleese) and avoiding the talons of fearsome enemy falcons. With an excellent voice cast, it’s unfortunate the script is a paltry pastiche of old war movie clichés.
