The rock star effect

Growing up to the sounds of Bowie and Led Zeppelin shaped Sharona Harris’s jewellery designs

MARGOT Robbie, Isabel Lucas, Lara Worthington, Jessica Gomes, Jennifer Hawkins and Margaret Zhang have all been spied rocking bold and beautiful ear candy. F+H Jewellery, created by Byron Bay designer Sharona Harris, is the label on their lobes.

“This year earrings have taken centre stage, with a huge focus on hoop earrings, asymmetric earrings and generally any design that is big and bold,” Sharona says.

“Be brave and mix and match your favourite earrings, so that you are not wearing a matching pair.

“If you’re not game to mix statement earrings, try mixing smaller studs and hoops, which is even more fun if you have multiple ear piercings, another big trend.”

The Veronicas sported Sharona’s latest collection, Ziggy, for their live performance on The Voice, but the rest of us will be able to pre-order pieces from July 1.

The range features hammered metal textures, beaded metal detailing, dark natural gemstones and this season’s must-have rock star symbol.

“I have always been heavily influenced by music as a result of growing up in a household that listened to non-stop Bowie, Zeppelin and Hendrix, and this is still a part of my everyday life,” Sharona says.

“This music influence translates into how I personally dress and also how I design jewellery.

“I always have the image of my ideal customer in mind when I am designing: the stylish rock-chic girl with her leather jacket and little black dress, dripping in F+H Jewellery.”

Must-haves in the range include the Ziggy large star earrings, twinkling with black onyx gemstones, the Money Honey multi-gemstone earrings and the Just Dance asymmetric chain earrings.

The Angel baby star choker is also set to be popular, although another classic style is making a comeback.

“Pendants are back,” Sharona says.

“Disc-shaped pendant necklaces are a favourite, also great worn in layers with different lengths.”
