TRL BRIEFS

-

Eagles v Brothers

A WIN over ninth-placed Brothers can help Highfields push for a spot in the top two as the Hutchinson Builders TRL Premiership enters the race to the finals. Highfields is equal third on the ladder after 11 rounds and entrenched in the top six, but a spot in the top two could be crucial this season. That makes the two points on offer when the Eagles host Brothers at Kuhls Rd Sporting Complex tonight a must for Highfields. Valleys v Boars VALLEYS take on Goondiwindi after their Madsen-Rasmussen Trophy Final win when they are back at home for their round 12 TRL game tonight.

The Roosters will be keen to get back into the task still at hand of picking up competition points when they take on the Boars at Herb Steinohrt Oval. Valleys may have taken out the mid-season final but are still just one win clear of Pittsworth and Highfields, so they need to keep winning to stay in the top two.

Souths v Wattles

THIS weekend’s round marks the start of the run to the TRL finals and Souths will be desperate to beat Wattles tomorrow at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

Souths sit eighth after 11 rounds and are four points out of the top six. This game against sixth-placed Wattles is one the Tigers have to win if they are to mount a charge to the finals as a loss could see them fall six point behind the top six. Oakey v Gatton OAKEY could provide some tough opposition for a Gatton team keen to push back into the top six.

The Bears host seventh-placed Gatton tomorrow and the Hawks need to take two points from the game to help in their battle with Wattles, who are sixth and also on 10 competition points.
