Bun­nings build im­pacts street

RUTHVEN St com­muters to the north of the Toowoomba CBD can ex­pect de­lays as de­vel­op­ers be­hind the city’s new­est Bun­nings Ware­house ex­pand a busy in­ter­sec­tion near Bridge St.

Hutchin­son Civil, the con­trac­tor be­hind the new Bun­nings Ware­house on Ruthven St, has flagged changes to Ruthven and Mof­fat Sts af­ter lengthy works on the Bridge St in re­cent months.

In a let­ter signed by Hutchin­son project man­ager Juan Gon­za­lez de­liv­ered to North Toowoomba res­i­dents, the works are flagged to start on Wed­nes­day as part of the on­go­ing ware­house build on the cor­ner of Bridge and Ruthven Sts.

“Part of th­ese works in­cludes road works to the Mof­fatt and Ruthven Sts in­ter­sec­tion,” the let­ter read.

“Th­ese works are to pro­vide safety ac­cess to Ruthven St from Mof­fatt St and con­struct a new bi­cy­cle lane.

“We an­tic­i­pate com­menc­ing works Wed­nes­day ... with works to con­tinue un­til mid Oc­to­ber.

“There will be in­ter­me­di­ate dis­rup­tions to pedes­tri­ans and ve­hi­cle traf­fic through­out this pe­riod, but all busi­ness ac­cesses will be main­tained.”

Two maps were in­cluded in the ad­vi­sory let­ter which said tem­po­rary traf­fic ar­range­ments and re­vised speed lim­its would be in place dur­ing con­struc­tion.

“In or­der to con­struct the works, tem­po­rary lane ar­range­ments will be in place shift­ing traf­fic to the west­ern side of Ruthven St,” the let­ter read.

Bun­nings is yet to an­nounce its of­fi­cial open­ing date de­spite re­cruit­ing to fill more than 180 work­ers at the site.

Con­struc­tion be­gan late last year.
