Picnic Point

The Chronicle - - OPINION -

IN REGARDS to a letter to the editor, a news item last week on the viewing platforms at Picnic Point, plus the interest in establishing a world-class quarry garden.

A lot of townsfolk get the two quarries mixed up.

The one we see from the highway at Harlaxton is still in continual use, whereas the old Bridge St quarry hasn’t been used for years.

The idea of the quarry gardens is excellent, except for the cost, so it would be doubtful that it would ever be a paying proposition.

But yes, a great tourist attraction. So we’ll see what happens there in the future.

Picnic Point, the current proposal is (we’d assume) not really costly and the view will be wonderful. But why not put it really on the map with a chairlift across to Table Top?

This would really get used and would likely be a viable proposition, so a commercial operator might well be interested in building and operating it.

Here’s to see if there are any takers or other thoughts. — RAY HARCH, Toowoomba
