Adani mine

The Chronicle - - OPINION -

I AM embarrassed to say I had no idea of the magnitude of the Adani coal mine.

As I sat watching Moana with my three-year-old daughter I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a “stop Adani” people protest posted by someone I respect in my community. Huh? What’s this all about? I started to research the mine.

My head started spinning and I felt sick. I couldn’t believe I wasn’t a part of this protest.

I worried I had left it too late and missed a critical time in our history to stand up for what is right. I started looking up what I could do to fight it and my daughter saw a photo of a protester’s sign of a sad Nemo. “Why is Nemo sad Mummy?”

The look in her eyes broke my heart. I want to be able to say I helped save Nemo and stopped the demise of our reef.

I implore your readers to do the same, for us, for our children and their children and stop Adani. — JODI PLUMBLEY, Harristown
