A TOOWOOMBA singer is on her way to stardom, landing a record deal with Sony Music after winning an online competition.

Tayla Crotty, who goes by the name of Tayla Mae, was one of eight people Australia-wide who competed in The ShareSpace, which is a music collaboration and talent development program broadcast through an original content series on YouTube.

The program ran for 30 days and was hosted by singers Jai Waetford and Alli Simpson.

Ms Crotty competed against seven other hopefuls, collaborating, creating and sharing music videos.

They were uploaded to YouTube and their fans’ likes, views, comments and shares determined who is the winner.

At the weekend it was announced that Ms Crotty was named the winner of ShareSpace, thanks to her incredible voice and the love of her thousands of fans.

Throughout the competition she sung Dusk Till Dawn by Zayn, What About Us by Pink, Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi as well as a number of solos.

The video clips of her performances gained hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook and Youtube, which ultimately allowed her to take the top prize of releasing an album with Sony Music.
