A TOOWOOMBA pop artist has been thrown into the musical spotlight after she was announced as the winner of The ShareSpace.

Not only did Tayla Crotty win a global song-writing trip and sign with Sony Music Entertainment, she will mingle with some of the biggest names in the industry when she attends the 2017 ARIA Awards on Tuesday, November 28.

Ms Crotty, who goes by the name Tayla Mae, won the online competition on Sunday after competing against seven other aspiring singers and sharing performances on her social media pages.

An algorithm collated data from the published content including likes, comments, views, shares and streams, to determine which of The ShareSpace singers had the best engagement over 30 days.

The Toowoomba community is almost just as excited as Ms Crotty, with an outpouring of support online.
