Intersection gets $5m commitment

The Chronicle - - NEWS -

A FUTURE LNP government will invest $5 million in vital upgrades to bust congestion at the intersection of North and Ruthven Streets.

LNP Toowoomba North candidate Trevor Watts will announce the investment today.

Mr Watts said for too long the Toowoomba community had been stuck sitting in traffic.

“The LNP Government will invest $5 million to reconfigure the intersection of North and Ruthven Streets,” Mr Watts said.

“Over recent years this junction has seen significant traffic increases resulting in delays.

“The LNP has puts its money where its mouth is and will deliver this project.”

“Turning lanes are required to reduce congestion and get Toowoomba residents to work and home sooner.”

In July this year, Mr Watts started a petition to to widen North Street so two turning lanes could be built at the Ruthven Street intersection.

At the time, he said population growth was causing major traffic congestion. LNP leader Tim Nicholls said his party had listened to the concerns of locals and committed to funding and building the vital community project.
