Living in Wilsonton has its difficulties as well. For instance, how much money and council effort was expended over the past three years on the Carnival of Flowers? At the Captain Cook Park McGregor St not one cent of “ratepayers’ money” spent. Councillors squirm like a worm on a hook at the mere mention of Highfields. So my suggestion to Carol, Hflds you’ve got it goin’ on in your leafy sanctuary. Motor on down and mingle with the Bogans of Toowoomba. We’ll be at the tunes in the park wherever they play.

— Dee Dee, Wilsonton

Such a shame to see all of the empty shops and quite large buildings in the middle of Toowoomba and then to see and hear of homeless people living in the middle of town too. Maybe some of these unused premises could house some of the homeless.

Most of the road problems re: bike riders is the rules. They should be single file. . . not abreast. . and they should stay at the curb . . . not in middle of road. These were the rules when we were young. There is a lot more traffic these days so it makes sense to me.

While you are entitled to your opinion F.N. Dennis, I find that there are many programs that are balanced and many that are to the right. Maybe you just cannot take anything that is to the left of your right ideas. There seems to be a bit of this going on from people who feel the same

as you who feel that the ABC should be like the the commercial stations and lean towards the right.

Bring be the Country Party to save the bush and the forgotten country folk. Politicians of all breeds be they councillors, state or federal only represent the city bread and butter brigade (voters) and stuff those who put the bread and butter on the table. You cannot eat concrete palaces or manicured gardens. Australia at its lowest ebb.

JH. African youth “gang” violence could well happen here also but so can and has youth violence by so-called gangs from any other ethnicity that you care to mention. Don’t just single out one group.

How come you can post mail on Tuesday and still waiting for it arrive in Brisbane the following week. Unbelievable.

Great news Air North extra flights to Townsville. Let’s hope that they happen and that the pilots don’t run out of hours minutes before they are due to take off like what happened on the 30th of November when the flight to Cairns was cancelled at the last minute.

Seems a lot of people have been left out of the new Toowoomba phone book. Not impressed. And by the way ..... isn’t that Laurel Bank Park on the front cover, not Queens Park?
