Worsford easily picks up aggregate

-

WANDOAN bareback bronc rider David Worsford won one round and the aggregate at the New Year’s Eve Rodeo at Mitchell in the Maranoa region of Queensland.

Worsford won the 2016 Australian Professional Rodeo Association title and was a round winner at last year’s final.

He won the first round of the bareback at Mitchell when he was the only rider to make time to score 74 and then finished second in round 2 with 73 points, 1.5 points behind winner Luke Higgins.

Worsfold was the only rider to make time on two horses, so easily won the aggregate from Higgins.

Josh Cavanagh scored 78 in round one of the bull ride and also won the aggregate as the only rider to make time in two rounds at Mitchell.

Cody Angland grew up at Wantabadgery near Wagga Wagga in New South Wales but saw the 2018 year in at Mitchell where he won the saddle bronc with 78 points.

He won from Clermont rider Clayton Braden on 75.5 and Allan Powell, of Springsure, who scored 73.

Stacey Price was victorious in the barrel race from placegetters Sharna Little and Tamasin Joe Kong.

All the APRA rodeo action in the next two months will be in the southern states.

The first Queensland rodeo in 2018 will be the Millmerran Show Rodeo on March 3.
