Cobram v Echuca United

-

Cobram ended its 2016 campaign on a disappointing note, losing to Echuca United at Echuca on Saturday.

The Tigers will rue a goalless first quarter as they went down by just five points.

The home side got off to a great start, kicking three goals to nil to see Cobram trailing by 17 points at the first break.

The Tigers wasted their chances in the second quarter, kicking two goals and five behinds, but were able to close the gap to 10 points at the long break.

A three-goal-to-one third term saw the gap close even further and a potential seventh win for the season was up for grabs for a Cobram outfit just three points adrift.

But Echuca held firm in the final quarter, claiming the win 8.10.58 to 7.11.53.

Tim Garlick capped off an outstanding year for Cobram with another best-on-ground performance.

Kallym Groves, Tyron Baden and Dan Fitzpatrick gave their all as well.

Keidan Holt-Tubbs was the leading goalkicker for the Tigers with three.

The match also turned out to be the last time co-coaches Phil McIntyre and Daniel Clarke would be in charge of the Tigers.

The future looks bright for the Tigers and whoever the club chooses to take them forward.
