COBRAM LAWN TENNIS

-

Cobram’s GM 2 side’s woes continued as it went down to Shepparton Jets on the weekend by 37 games.

Jackie Vogel was Cobram’s best player, recording two victories.

She won her singles very impressively 6-2 and then paired with club stalwart Marika Newey to win their doubles encounter 8-3.

After Vogel’s matches the day was a bit of a disaster with the final scores seeing Shepparton Jets 9 sets and 71 games defeating Cobram 2 sets and 34 games.

● Cobram Cougars in GM 3 faired marginally better but still went down to Numurkah Penguins by the same 37 games.

Alicia Meyer proved to be a very handy fill-in as she won two of her three sets.

She and Bonnie Miller won 8-4, then followed up with an 8-6 victory paired with Jeanette Mellier in their doubles match.

Ever-consistent Peter Hollands paired with club president Matthew RossSoden to win their doubles 8-3.

The other winners saw James Sutton and Jeanette Mellier bring home the bacon in their mixed set 8-7.

The final scores saw Numurkah 10 sets and 92 games to the Cobram Cougars 4 sets and 55 games.
