Cobram park to host round
The Cobram Skate Park will come to life this Saturday as part of the fourth annual Loddon Mallee Hume Series competition, run by the Australian Skate Park League.
The Cobram round is one of 11 interconnected skate park events held across the region between September and January, and will feature scooter, BMX and skateboard competitions as part of the YMCA’s national pathway program.
The day will kick off with the scooter event at 10.30 am, BMX from noon and skateboard from 2.30 pm.
Divisions include 14 and under and 15 and over in scooter and BMX, and 12 and under, 16 and under and open male and female in skateboard.
With the addition of skateboarding to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, the series is a great opportunity for young skateboard enthusiasts to harness their skill base and progress through a structured national pathway.
In addition to the pathway, each regional series of the SPL presents opportunities for young people to gain practical training in skate park event management.
The growing network of more than 1450 participants ensures the success and longevity of the SPL, further enriching and celebrating skate park user communities.
The Cobram round has been brought to life through a partnership between YMCA, Victorian Skateboarding Association and the Moira Shire Council’s youth development team.
