Winning the toss and batting first, Katamatite was in all sorts of trouble when it slumped to 6-29.

Some late-order hitting from Brad Parnell allowed the Tigers to avoid embarrassm­ent as they were eventually bowled out for 94.

Barooga spinner Justin Maley was the star with the ball, taking seven wickets to boost his season total to 32.

The Hawks had 34 overs left to bat for the day and got through without too many troubles, ending the day 2-81.

Jamie Stanyer led the way with 41, while Andrew Reynoldson finished on 23 not out.

Cobram-Yarroweyah United v Katunga

CYU has claimed its second win of the season on the first day of its match against Katunga.

Katunga won the toss and batted. It was bowled out for 108 thanks in large part to CYU’s Kane Goldsworth­y.

Goldsworth­y, who took 5-14, has been a shining light for United this year and now has 24 wickets for the season.

In reply, Kieran Andrew made sure his side got over the line, with a fine 57 before United finished the day 7-111.
