Only one of the four matches in round 12 still has a result in the balance after the first day of play.

Two games have already had the winner finalised with another needing just 14 runs to decide the outcome.

The ball dominated the bat across the league with a trio of five-wicket hauls the highlight.

Deniliquin v Cobram

The one match up for grabs is the game featuring two top-four sides.

Cobram made the trek to Deni and won the toss, electing to bat.

The Tigers’ batting line-up was weakened with Shaun Downie and Manny Artavilla both away.

Cobram made a positive start as it reached 1-76 with Adam Wiffen and Izac Artavilla at the crease.

But as has happened often to Cobram this year, its good start was wasted as it lost its final nine wickets for 73 runs.

Taylor Pugh held the Tigers’ innings together with 42 runs, while Wiffen and Artavilla were next best with 37 and 26 respectively.

Tom McGregor took the new ball for the Rhinos and claimed figures of 4-23, while Brodie Bennett returned to the line-up with three wickets.

Nineteen overs remained in the day’s play, with Cobram taking three crucial wickets to keep it in the match.

Anthony Bradley, Andrew Hogan and Brad Todd were all removed as the Rhinos finished on 3-38.

Finley v Nathalia

Nathalia secured first innings points on the opening day of its match at Finley on Saturday.

The home side won the toss and chose to bat first. However, its decision was not rewarded as it was dismissed for 80.

The Nathalia bowling effort was dominated by Ash Quinn, who picked up figures of 6-24.

Grant Hutchins and Luke Carter each took two wickets.

Only Daniel Hibberd was able to stand up to the Quinn attack, making 41.

Nathalia passed the total five wickets down before declaring at 8-116 with Bailey Bell top-scoring with 25.

Russell Stockdale and Jono Oliver were best with the ball for the Cats with three wickets each.
