Get crafty at Art Fest
Everything from blacksmithing, lead-lighting and mosaics to bobbin lacemaking, photography and pottery is on offer at the Moira Arts and Culture Art Fest.
Held in Cobram on Saturday and Sunday, September 16 and 17, the Art Fest will cater for residents from across the shire and provides an action-packed program suitable for beginners through to the advanced.
A selection of experienced instructors will host more than 20 different workshops over the weekend and guide participants in their selected artistic field.
Art Fest co-ordinator Karyn Day said the two-day event was a chance for the experienced and the not-so-experienced to hone their skills and get creative.
‘‘The Art Fest is now in its second year and we are excited to be able to extend this year’s program and provide a more diverse offering of workshops,’’ Ms Day said.
‘‘If there is something you’ve always wanted to have a go at but were never sure where to start, this is the perfect opportunity to jump in and a have a go under the guidance of an experienced instructor.’’
Half-day, full-day and twoday sessions are available with bookings essential, as some workshops have limited spaces and material requirements.
Workshops will be held at the Cobram Showgrounds.
‘‘We had participants from across the whole shire, and further afield, get on board last year and received incredible feedback so we are looking forward to building on that success and delivering a bigger and better Art Fest for 2017,’’ Ms Day said.
‘‘All workshops will be held in the Cobram Showgrounds precinct so they’ll be a real buzz of activity and lots happening over the weekend.’’
Workshops, which are suitable for participants aged 16 years and older, also include a tutor’s display with all materials covered as part of the workshop cost.
Depending on the workshop chosen, costs vary from $20 to $60 per workshop.
Booking passports are available at BP Cobram, Katamatite Post Office, Barooga Post Office, The Common Thread Numurkah, Cafe 3641 Strathmerton and Ava look Antiques & Collectables Berrigan.
Moira Arts and Culture is sponsored by Moira Shire Council and delivers a range or events and art programs across the shire.
