Play golf for a purpose
Golfers are invited to enter the Legacy Golf Day in support of a good cause this weekend.
The Cobram Yarrawonga Legacy Group will host its annual golf day on Sunday, September 10 at Cobram Barooga Golf Club to raise funds for ongoing support of the wonderful work of Legacy.
Legacy member John Anderson said last year the group’s golf day raised $4800 with the generous support of local businesses and golfers.
‘‘It’s very important for us to continue the amazing role of Legacy, which cares in a very practical way for the defence force families of veterans who have died or suffered an injury,’’ Anderson said.
‘‘We can guarantee golfers will be able to enjoy a terrific day on the course right here on the picturesque Murray River.
‘‘And we encourage everyone — regardless of ability — to come along and be part of this special day.
‘‘Let’s call it golf with a purpose — the great purpose and commitment of caring that is embodied by Legacy, which has been looking after defence force families for many generations.’’
Founded in 1923 by ex-servicemen, Legacy currently cares for about 65 000 widows and 1800 children and disabled dependants throughout Australia.
On Sunday, there will be a 10.30 am shotgun start and a great day of golf and fundraising is assured, along with excellent trophies. The entry fee is $25.
