School holiday activities
Come along to Cobram Library in the school holidays during opening hours and make a magnetic bookmark as part of ‘Craft on Tap’. Gift boxes and bags will be made tomorrow (Thursday) from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and is suitable for ages eight and older. Rhyme and storytime is on every Friday from 10.30 am as usual.
RSL new member night
Cobram-Barooga RSL Sub-branch will hold a new members’ meeting on Monday, October 9 at 7.30 pm at Barooga Sporties, where you can learn about the work of the RSL and test your eligibility for membership. Cobram Neighbourhood Watch will be cooking up a sausage sizzle storm outside Cobram Woolworths this Saturday from 9 am. Please buy a sausage and support Neighbourhood Watch and its volunteer staff, who provide a great service to our community.
Cobram Uniting Church Ladies’ Guild will hold its Annual Flower Show on Friday, October 20 in Irvin Hall, Hay Ave, Cobram and is looking forward to a beautiful display of cut flowers and arrangements. Doors open at 1.15 pm. Cost of entry is $3 and cost of afternoon tea is $5. There will be the usual cake and produce/ plant stalls. Cards and games day
Cobram District Health Ladies’ Auxiliary invites the community to attend its very popular Card, Games and Luncheon fundraiser. Fun and games will be had at the Barooga Sports Bowls Club at 11 am on Thursday, October 12. A lunch and afternoon tea will be provided and there will be a ticket for a lucky door prize. Price of entry is $20. There will be a trading table with baking, preserves and bric a brac. Raffle tickets will also be available. Cup day at Cobram
The spring racing carnival is fast approaching and Cobram Harness Racing’s Melbourne Cup Day Carnival Family Day on Tuesday, November 7 is just weeks away. Great prizes have been donated for the popular Fashions on the Field, so fashion enthusiasts are encouraged to get their wardrobe ready for the big event. Free children’s entertainment and free icy-poles for the younger generation are also on the program. Marquee packages are available for groups looking for a fun social day. Doug’s Christmas Lunch is for all singles and couples over 50 who would otherwise be on their own for lunch on Christmas Day. Bookings are essential. Get crafty in Katamatite
Katamatite Craft Group is looking for new members. The group meets every Tuesday at 10 am in the room at the back of the Uniting Church in Beek St, Katamatite. Barooga Little Athletics needs volunteers. If you are keen or have been an athlete in the past, the club would love to see you at the Barooga oval for the upcoming athletics season. Berrigan and District Home and Community Support has started a Meals on Wheels service for clients in Barooga and needs volunteers to deliver the meals on weekdays. If you could spare a couple of hours a month and would like to volunteer, phone the office on 5883 2044.
Thursdays from 1 pm to 3 pm at Cobram Community House. Crochet, colour or craft with conversation and a cuppa. Participation is by gold coin donation.
