School hol­i­day ac­tiv­i­ties

Come along to Co­bram Li­brary in the school hol­i­days dur­ing open­ing hours and make a mag­netic book­mark as part of ‘Craft on Tap’. Gift boxes and bags will be made to­mor­row (Thurs­day) from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and is suit­able for ages eight and older. Rhyme and sto­ry­time is on ev­ery Friday from 10.30 am as usual.

RSL new mem­ber night

Co­bram-Ba­rooga RSL Sub-branch will hold a new mem­bers’ meet­ing on Monday, Oc­to­ber 9 at 7.30 pm at Ba­rooga Spor­ties, where you can learn about the work of the RSL and test your el­i­gi­bil­ity for mem­ber­ship. Neigh­bour­hood watch

Co­bram Neigh­bour­hood Watch will be cook­ing up a sausage siz­zle storm out­side Co­bram Wool­worths this Satur­day from 9 am. Please buy a sausage and sup­port Neigh­bour­hood Watch and its vol­un­teer staff, who pro­vide a great ser­vice to our com­mu­nity.

Flower show

Co­bram Unit­ing Church Ladies’ Guild will hold its An­nual Flower Show on Friday, Oc­to­ber 20 in Irvin Hall, Hay Ave, Co­bram and is look­ing for­ward to a beau­ti­ful dis­play of cut flow­ers and ar­range­ments. Doors open at 1.15 pm. Cost of en­try is $3 and cost of af­ter­noon tea is $5. There will be the usual cake and pro­duce/ plant stalls. Cards and games day

Co­bram District Health Ladies’ Aux­il­iary in­vites the com­mu­nity to at­tend its very pop­u­lar Card, Games and Lun­cheon fundraiser. Fun and games will be had at the Ba­rooga Sports Bowls Club at 11 am on Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 12. A lunch and af­ter­noon tea will be pro­vided and there will be a ticket for a lucky door prize. Price of en­try is $20. There will be a trad­ing ta­ble with bak­ing, pre­serves and bric a brac. Raf­fle tick­ets will also be avail­able. Cup day at Co­bram

The spring rac­ing car­ni­val is fast ap­proach­ing and Co­bram Har­ness Rac­ing’s Mel­bourne Cup Day Car­ni­val Fam­ily Day on Tues­day, Novem­ber 7 is just weeks away. Great prizes have been do­nated for the pop­u­lar Fash­ions on the Field, so fash­ion en­thu­si­asts are en­cour­aged to get their wardrobe ready for the big event. Free chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ment and free icy-poles for the younger gen­er­a­tion are also on the pro­gram. Mar­quee pack­ages are avail­able for groups look­ing for a fun so­cial day. Christ­mas lunch to share

Doug’s Christ­mas Lunch is for all sin­gles and cou­ples over 50 who would oth­er­wise be on their own for lunch on Christ­mas Day. Book­ings are es­sen­tial. Get crafty in Kata­matite

Kata­matite Craft Group is look­ing for new mem­bers. The group meets ev­ery Tues­day at 10 am in the room at the back of the Unit­ing Church in Beek St, Kata­matite. Ba­rooga Lit­tle Ath­let­ics needs vol­un­teers. If you are keen or have been an ath­lete in the past, the club would love to see you at the Ba­rooga oval for the up­com­ing ath­let­ics sea­son. Ber­ri­gan and District Home and Com­mu­nity Sup­port has started a Meals on Wheels ser­vice for clients in Ba­rooga and needs vol­un­teers to de­liver the meals on week­days. If you could spare a cou­ple of hours a month and would like to vol­un­teer, phone the of­fice on 5883 2044.
