Trade day was at Fin­ley RSC where a full field con­tested the day.

Win­ners with 4 wins and 69 points were Rod Amear, Ke­rian Beare and D. Ivanoff. Sec­ond with 4 wins and 67 points were the com­bi­na­tion from Yar­ra­wonga of Kerry Ker­nane, R Liver­wood and P. Liver­wood. Third also with 4 wins and 66 points were Ge­off Mitchell, Ray Emer­son and Peter Rus­sell.

Best sec­ond game wasn’t paid, how­ever, best third game win­ners were Bob Adams, Peter Ve­lardo and John El­lis and best fourth game win­ners were Ray Nye, Len Magee and Ge­orge Lock­man.

The jack­pot did not go off so con­tin­ues to this week at Nu­murkah Golf.

Keith’s Friday jack­pot did go off. Jill Toohey and vis­i­tor Tim McCarthy won $16 be­tween them when their results for the day equalled the num­ber drawn out. Con­grat­u­la­tions to them and the jack­pot this week re­verts to $66.

Win­ners of the day were Des Toohey and Kevin Kennedy with +18 closely fol­lowed by Jim Es­cott and Ron Quinn with +17.

Best first game win­ners were Bob Bam­ford and Faye Neale with +13 and best sec­ond game went to He­len Quinn and Fred Pin­nuck with +7

A lot of club events are com­ing up so mem­bers are asked to keep their eyes on the rel­e­vant no­tice boards for details.

The next im­por­tant events to re­mem­ber are the Club Sin­gles Cham­pi­onship and Med­ley Pairs.


The first of the 60 and Over South­ern Group tour­na­ments was played at Nathalia last week with Co­bram teams to the fore.

Alan Vinecombe, Glen Mur­phy, Dave Hutchins and Neville In­gram were win­ners on 49 points over Keith Faulkner, Alan Tem­ple, Ken Shields and Barry Turner on 45 points.

The next day is on Monday, Oc­to­ber 9 at Co­bram.

The McDon­ald Fam­ily Spon­sored Mixed Triples tour­na­ment at­tracted 18 teams with Alan McDon­ald, Marj McDon­ald and Geof Bowen — as the only three game win­ners — be­ing de­clared suc­cess­ful over Ge­orge My­nard, Don Col­lie and Dave Hutchins with 21⁄2 games.

Val Quinane was the lucky mem­ber who tipped Rich­mond to win by 42 points.

Ap­pre­ci­a­tion is ex­tended to the McDon­ald fam­ily for their con­tin­ued spon­sor­ship of the event.

Pennant prac­tice days are be­ing played next Friday at 10 am and Satur­day at 1 pm.

All play­ers are urged to submit their names to en­able the se­lec­tors to name teams for the first rounds which com­mence on Oc­to­ber 13 and 14.

The fi­nal Satur­day pennant prac­tice will be held on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 11 at 4.30 pm fol­lowed by an in­for­ma­tion and pie night at 6 pm.

The Friday mem­bers’ draw spon­sored by Co­bram BP has jack­pot­ted to $200, which means that draws will be con­ducted be­tween 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm to select a win­ner who must be in at­ten­dance to claim the prize.
