Big weekend for a small town
The Katamatite Lions Club Fun Weekend is on October 14 and 15.
It is similar to the previous Big Day Out events of 2015 and 2016 with an art show, photography exhibition, craft display and market stalls in the Katamatite Town Hall.
Artist Pam Mansfield will hold demonstrations on Saturday at 11 am and 1 pm, and the Numurkah Town Band will perform from 10 am to noon.
Lyn Woodhead will be entertaining at 1.30 pm with country and rock ’n’ roll songs.
The Katamatite Bazaar is opening and available to give expert valuations on any items.
The Kiwanis’ spinning wheel will be in action at 10 am, noon and 2 pm in the town hall.
Saturday concludes with live music at the Boosey Creek Cafe and Tavern at 7.30 pm with Golden Guitarists Travis Sinclair, Luke Austin and Jack Sinclair performing. A $15 cover charge applies.
Sunday’s highlights include wildlife talks in the town hall at 10 am. Muckatah Landcare Group has organised a walk on the new turtle design path and an informative talk at the Peter Kennedy Reserve at 1.30 pm and 3 pm.
Sunday is a big day of activities at the Katamatite CFA Open Day.
The brigades’ fire-fighting skills will be on display at the station and at Police Paddock Park from 10 am to 2 pm.
There will be free live music in the afternoon at the Boosey Creek Tavern by Gavin Doyle.
On both days the latest special police cruiser unit will be on site, displaying the new technology and gadgets.
The Katamatite Garlic Farm at the end of Moore St will have tours between 10 am and 4 pm on both days.
There will be talks on garlic growing at 11.30 am and 1.30 pm and a barbecue by Eden Farm with their bio-dynamic sausages.
This will be a great weekend for the Katamatite community. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy what Katamatite has to offer.
