Big week­end for a small town

The Kata­matite Lions Club Fun Week­end is on Oc­to­ber 14 and 15.

It is sim­i­lar to the pre­vi­ous Big Day Out events of 2015 and 2016 with an art show, pho­tog­ra­phy ex­hi­bi­tion, craft dis­play and mar­ket stalls in the Kata­matite Town Hall.

Artist Pam Mansfield will hold demon­stra­tions on Satur­day at 11 am and 1 pm, and the Nu­murkah Town Band will per­form from 10 am to noon.

Lyn Wood­head will be en­ter­tain­ing at 1.30 pm with coun­try and rock ’n’ roll songs.

The Kata­matite Bazaar is open­ing and avail­able to give ex­pert val­u­a­tions on any items.

The Ki­wa­nis’ spin­ning wheel will be in ac­tion at 10 am, noon and 2 pm in the town hall.

Satur­day con­cludes with live mu­sic at the Boosey Creek Cafe and Tav­ern at 7.30 pm with Golden Gui­tarists Travis Sin­clair, Luke Austin and Jack Sin­clair per­form­ing. A $15 cover charge ap­plies.

Sun­day’s high­lights in­clude wildlife talks in the town hall at 10 am. Muck­atah Land­care Group has or­gan­ised a walk on the new tur­tle de­sign path and an in­for­ma­tive talk at the Peter Kennedy Re­serve at 1.30 pm and 3 pm.

Sun­day is a big day of ac­tiv­i­ties at the Kata­matite CFA Open Day.

The brigades’ fire-fight­ing skills will be on dis­play at the sta­tion and at Po­lice Pad­dock Park from 10 am to 2 pm.

There will be free live mu­sic in the af­ter­noon at the Boosey Creek Tav­ern by Gavin Doyle.

On both days the lat­est spe­cial po­lice cruiser unit will be on site, dis­play­ing the new tech­nol­ogy and gad­gets.

The Kata­matite Gar­lic Farm at the end of Moore St will have tours be­tween 10 am and 4 pm on both days.

There will be talks on gar­lic grow­ing at 11.30 am and 1.30 pm and a bar­be­cue by Eden Farm with their bio-dy­namic sausages.

This will be a great week­end for the Kata­matite com­mu­nity. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to come and en­joy what Kata­matite has to of­fer.
