The fifth hole nearest-the-pin was won by Lynton Goodwin; 13th: Kevin Ansell; 16th: Hollywood Forster.
Wednesday women Wednesday, October 4. Stableford, 48 players on the Old Course. A-grade winner: Terry Mentha with 38 points, runner-up Marg Rhode 36; B-grade: Grace Valente 38 points, runner-up Marg Murphy 37; C-grade: Mary Rodger 42 points, runner-up Betty Oldham 36. Bev Willis won nearest-the-pin on the eighth hole, Terry Mentha won on the 12th, Deb Ryan the second shot to the sixth and Gai Mitchelson on the 13th. Pro balls and balls down the line went to 34 points.
Super Vets Norm Elliott led the field of eight with a nett 36. Balls were won by those with 41 nett or better. Max Harrison won Guiliana’s prize. Next week back nine Old Course.
Thursday October 5, men’s and ladies’ stableford, West Course, 83 men. A-grade winner Kevin Dunn coming in with 40 points. D L Woods had a great day with 42 points. Nearest-the-pins were won by Noel Milligan on the fifth, Brian Eddy on the eighth, Chris Bell on the 13th and Barry Gook on the 16th. Four balls went to 39 pts, three balls to 38, two to 36 and one ball to 34 points. Edna Wisneiwski won the ladies’ event with 32 points.
Saturday October 7, men’s qualifying round for the Wiltshire Knockout Trophy. Forty-three pairs played four-ball best-ball stableford with the winners for the day being Linsey Smith and Graham Chapman with 46 points. Runners-up with 45 points on a count-back were Ray Toy and Tank Dunn. Nearest-the-pins — fifth: Dave Mathews; eighth: Matt Haddrell; 13th and the pro pin (the money hole) won by Fred Kent; 16th: Wayne Gould. Three balls went to 45 points, two to 43 points and one ball to 41 points. Eight pairs qualified for the Wiltshire first round, those with 43 points or better. Draw is available in the pro shop and on the website. Heather Aston won the ladies’ event for the day with 36 points. Bev Willis and Marg Wallace won nearest-the-pins. Two balls went to 33 pts; one ball to 30 pts. October 8, Medley stableford won by Mathew Toohey with 38 points on a handicap of 12. Two balls to 36 pts: Bill Hoog, Paul and Edna Wiz; one ball to 33 pts: Mary Hoog, Paul Aston, Frank and Ruth Messner.
