VETER­ANS Tuesday, October 10: West course. Freddy Bar­ton won A-grade with 41 points off a hand­i­cap of 8, closely fol­lowed by David Wil­son with 39 points off a hand­i­cap of 11. B-grade win­ner was Jimmy Ryan with 37 pts, with Paul Wis­nei­wski run­ner-up on a count­back with 36 points. C-grade win­ner with 43 points was Barry Davies, fol­lowed by Ross Lacy with 39 points. Balls down the line went to 32 points. Near­est the pins, fifth: Tony Wouters; 13th: Ken Field­ing; 16th: David Wil­son. Golfer of the Year: Barry Davies 4 pts, Freddy Bar­ton 3 pts, David Wil­son 2 pts, Ross Lacy 1 pt.

WOMEN Wed­nes­day, October 11: Spon­sored by Skadoo­dle in Co­bram, stroke round, 42 play­ers, West course, putts counted. This event was com­bined with the fi­nal of the Sil­ver Medal, won by Carol Pet­tit (29) 73 nett. It was also the fi­nal round for the best re­duced hand­i­cap and Golfer of the Year. A-grade re­sults: Robyn Jack­son won with 71 nett, Marie Stace was run­ner-up 72 nett and Milly Ruigrok had 30 putts. B-grade: Carol Pet­tit won with nett 73, run­nerup was Deb Ryan with nett 73 and the putting was won by Jill Sheedy with 31 putts. Pro balls and balls down-the-line to 76 nett.

SU­PER VETS Wed­nes­day, October 11: The nine-hole win­ner was Gra­ham Landy with nett 34. Balls to 38 nett won by John Dob­bie, Ge­orge Hock­ing and Max Har­ri­son. Max also won near­est the pins. Bruce McKen­zie won Guil­iana’s prize. Next week: back nine, West course.

THURS­DAY COM­PE­TI­TION October 12: Stable­ford, West course. A to­tal of 81 men played with Freddy Bar­ton be­ing the vic­tor for the sec­ond time this week with 40 points. B-grade was won by Gra­ham Chap­man with 39 points. Near­est the pins, 5th: John Parkin­son; 8th: Matt Toohey; 13th: Slick Bo­valino; 13th and 16th: Matt Toohey. Balls down-the-line: four to 38, three to 37, two to 36 and one to 34. Women’s win­ner was Edna Wis­nei­wski with 35 points.

SATURDAY COM­PE­TI­TION October 14: Stable­ford, Old course. John Parkin­son won the A-grade event with 39 points and Tony Wouters scor­ing 42 points won B-grade. Near­est the pins, 6th: Clint Dick­ens ; 12th: Craig Black­hall; 17th: Ray Toy. Ash­ley Kennedy had a hole-in-one on the eighth, giv­ing him an ea­gle and the prize for the money hole. Women’s win­ner was Marg Ma­jernik with 35 points. Sophia Crouch won near­est the pin on the 12th and Marg Wal­lace the 17th. Balls went to 32 points.

WILT­SHIRE KNOCK­OUT Re­sults for the first round: Dave Mathews and Ross Lacy won their match on the 19th. They will now play Ian Lin­say and Ian Chanter (they won 2-up) at 12.26 pm this Saturday in the semi-fi­nal. Ash Tea­gle and Johnny Beard won 3-1 and will play Joe Hr­dina and Ray Bill at 12.34 pm. Ray and Joe won their first round match 5-up with three to go.

SUNDAY COM­PE­TI­TION October 15: Med­ley par, West course. Win­ner was Vic Will­moth, hand­i­cap 19, score 2-up. Balls went to two-down.

SUNDAY SLOMEN October 15: spon­sored by the Slomen Com­mit­tee. Peter Bar­rie won A-grade with a nett 36. B-grade was won by Bruce Ha­ley with 36. Balls were given out to a nett 38. The long­est drive was taken out by ‘Tiny’ Tim Nolan. Near­est the pins, 13th: A. Dun­lop; 16th: Bruce Ha­ley; Wayne Magee took out the NAGA. Next week: back nine, Old course.
