The Cobram Courier - - NEWS - By Kimberley Price

Soroptimist International Cobram Barooga held a gala dinner to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The night at Cobram Barooga Golf Club was thoroughly enjoyed by many past and present members.

Guests included the Soroptimist Federation of South West Pacific president and the Soroptimist International Victoria president.

Guests were treated to a wonderful night and an insight into guest speaker and newly-appointed Fairly Foundation chief executive officer Cheryl Hammer’s life.

From humble beginnings in Tocumwal, through a variety of careers, to arriving at her current position, Ms Hammer has experienced a lot. Her ability to continually rise to different challenges has led to great achievements in her professional life. Her inspiring story delighted the room.

Original Soroptimist International members Karen Bruce, Maree Hogan and Lynn Knight were honoured on the night with 25-year membership badges.

The trio cut the birthday cake, which was beautifully made and decorated by president Noelene Ackerly.
