Australia Day award deadline looming

The Cobram Courier - - NEWS -

Time is running out to nominate a community hero for the 2018 Moira Shire Australia Day Award Ceremony.

Australian citizens who have made a significant voluntary contribution during 2017, or who have given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years, are eligible.

But it’s not just individuals who can be nominated. A project or event that a school, community group or organisation has run, which went that extra mile to help their local area, can also be nominated.

There are five award categories: Citizen of the Year (open age), Young Citizen of the Year (up to 24 years of age), Community Event of the Year, Community Organisation of the Year and Environment Project of the Year.

Nominees and their guests will be celebrated at an awards evening hosted by Moira Shire Council in January as well as being recognised at their own town’s Australia Day festivities.
