Moira Film Group screen­ing

The next film to be shown by the Moira Film Group is the Rogers and Ham­mer­stein musical Carousel, star­ring Gor­don MacRae and Shirley Jones. This film will be shown at 1.30 pm to­day, Novem­ber 15, at the Yar­roweyah Hall, fol­low­ing the Christ­mas lunch at 12.30 pm. Afternoon tea will be served af­ter the film. Plant sale

Ba­rooga Botan­i­cal Gar­dens volunteers will hold a plant sale on Satur­day from 8 am to noon. Many hardy plants will be avail­able and all pro­ceeds help to main­tain the gar­dens.

Orchid club meet­ing

The next meet­ing of the Mur­ray Val­ley Orchid Club will be held on Sun­day at the Se­nior Cit­i­zens’ hall in Hovel St, Yar­ra­wonga. The hall will open at 12.30 pm for set­ting up plants and the meet­ing will start at 1.30 pm. There will be a talk about grow­ing Den­dro­bi­ums as well as other types of or­chids. If you have an orchid that needs re­pot­ting, bring it to the meet­ing to be fixed up, even if you are a non-mem­ber. Vis­i­tors most wel­come, es­pe­cially prospec­tive new mem­bers. Christ­mas party

The Lalalty Hall Christ­mas party will be on Novem­ber 25 at the Lalalty Hall start­ing at 7 pm. A se­li­cious spit roast with ve­g­ies and desserts will be served. Santa will also make a visit. Christ­mas card­mak­ing work­shops

There will be Christ­mas card­mak­ing work­shops at Kata­matite Hall on Novem­ber 17 from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm and Novem­ber 18 from 10 am to 4 pm. They will be part of the monthly scrap­book­ing and card-mak­ing work­shops held ev­ery month by Beryl White. Any­one in­ter­ested in join­ing or those want­ing more in­for­ma­tion can phone Beryl on 0403 408 425.

Strath­mer­ton Lions Club coun­try mu­sic

The next coun­try mu­sic event will be held on Novem­ber 18 at the Strath­mer­ton Hall from 7 pm.

Safe plate day

Co­bram Neigh­bour­hood Watch in con­junc­tion with Co­bram po­lice and the Co­bram Ki­wa­nis Club will be hold­ing a safe plate day on Satur­day, Novem­ber 18, at the Wool­worths car park on Punt Rd.

Bring your car and get oneway screws fit­ted. It only takes a few min­utes and may pre­vent your plates be­ing stolen and used to com­mit a crime.

Com­bined Angli­can fete

This pop­u­lar an­nual event or­gan­ised by Co­bram Angli­can Gram­mar School and the Angli­can Par­ish of Co­bram will this year be held in the church grounds in High St on Novem­ber 24 from 3.30 pm. The change of venue is due to major con­struc­tion works at the school. The fete will fea­ture a mon­ster 17-me­tre in­flat­able croc­o­dile as well as all the reg­u­lar at­trac­tions. Group in­vites all district res­i­dents to the com­mu­nity Christ­mas party.

A bar­be­cue tea and soft drinks will be pro­vided. You are wel­come to bring your own food if you wish.

There will be plenty of entertainment for the kids, in­clud­ing a visit from Santa and a raf­fle with a va­ri­ety of prizes to be won.

All pro­ceeds from the raf­fle go back into com­mu­nity projects.

The party is on Sun­day, Novem­ber 26, from 5 pm at the Koonoomoo Re­cre­ation Re­serve.

Mag­i­cal, Musical Christ­mas

The Co­bram Se­nior Cit­i­zens choir presents Mag­i­cal, Musical Christ­mas on Mon­day, Novem­ber 27 and Thurs­day, Novem­ber 30 at 1.30 pm in the Se­nior Cit­i­zens Club rooms on Hay Ave, Co­bram. En­try is $2 for both days. Raf­fle tick­ets will be three for $2. A lucky door raf­fle and afternoon tea will be pro­vided.

Christ­mas lunch to share

Doug’s Christ­mas lunch is for all sin­gles and cou­ples over 50 who would oth­er­wise be on their own for lunch on Christ­mas Day. Book­ings are es­sen­tial. Rhyme and sto­ry­time

Rhyme and Sto­ry­time is on ev­ery Fri­day at 10.30 am at the Co­bram Li­brary. Ses­sions be­gin with rhymes and songs, fol­lowed by sto­ries and then a sim­ple craft. Ba­bies, tod­dlers and pre-school­ers, with their car­ers, are all wel­come to join in.

Women’s so­cial ten­nis

Women’s so­cial ten­nis will be played at the Ba­rooga Sports Club ten­nis courts on Tues­days from 10 am. No set teams, just a so­cial hit of ten­nis for women. For in­for­ma­tion, phone June White­man on 5872 2656.

Want to be part of the Red Hat So­ci­ety? The ‘Rav­ing Reds’ group is look­ing for new mem­bers — women aged 50 and over who have a zest for life and wish to take part in a fun-lov­ing friendly group that has no rules and no com­mit­tees. The only ex­cep­tion is the dress code: a red hat (or some­thing friv­o­lous) worn with a pur­ple outfit. The group meets reg­u­larly at var­i­ous venues.
